Traditionally Recognized Properties
Green tea is covered by an EMA/HMPC monograph and has health claims authorized by EFSA at the European level. The properties presented below are based on these references as well as on the available scientific literature. No therapeutic claims are made.
Catechins and caffeine: two complementary active compounds
The green tea leaf contains two families of active compounds whose interaction has been extensively studied: catechins, polyphenols belonging to the flavonoid family—of which epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the most abundant form—and caffeine, an alkaloid naturally present in the plant. The EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) has recognized that the combination of these two compounds helps increase energy expenditure and may facilitate weight loss as part of a low-calorie diet. This is an authorized health claim under Regulation (EC) No. 1924/2006.
Antioxidant-Rich Polyphenols
Green tea is one of the most concentrated dietary sources of antioxidant polyphenols. The preservation of catechins through rapid post-harvest heat treatment (unlike black tea, where they are transformed through fermentation) makes it a particularly valuable source of these compounds. Antioxidants help limit cellular oxidative stress, a natural phenomenon linked to metabolism and environmental exposure.
Caffeine in green tea: a gentle and gradual stimulant
The caffeine in green tea is naturally combined with L-theanine, an amino acid specific to Camellia sinensis. This combination is being studied for its effects on alertness: L-theanine is thought to modulate the stimulating effect of caffeine, producing a more gradual and longer-lasting stimulation than that of coffee, with a lower tendency toward rebound effects. Caffeine also contributes to normal cognitive function, a claim authorized by the EFSA.
Organic green tea: a guarantee of traceability
Organic certification guarantees the absence of synthetic pesticide residues and chemical fertilizers in the finished product. For a beverage consumed daily and prepared by directly steeping the leaves, the agronomic quality of the raw material has a direct impact on the composition of what ends up in the cup. Choosing organic green tea is therefore consistent with a regimen of regular daily consumption.
Claims regarding green tea are subject to their use as a complement to dietary measures, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1924/2006. Information on L-theanine is derived from available scientific literature and does not constitute an authorized health claim.

Green tea comes from the same leaves as black tea and oolong tea; all three are derived from Camellia sinensis. What distinguishes them is the post-harvest processing: the leaves used for green tea are quickly stabilized after picking by applying heat (steam or dry heat, depending on tradition), which deactivates the enzymes responsible for oxidation and preserves the green color, fresh aromas, and high catechin content.
This organic green tea from Vietnam has a mild, low-tannin flavor profile, characteristic of Vietnamese green teas. Unlike Japanese green teas (which are often iodine-like and grassy) or Chinese green teas (which are sometimes more roasted), Vietnamese green teas develop light herbaceous notes, a subtle natural sweetness, and very moderate bitterness, making them organoleptically similar to white tea.
Grown using certified organic farming methods, it is produced without chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides, in accordance with the specifications of European organic certification.
This product is a food item. It is not a substitute for medical treatment or a varied and balanced diet.
